Special Events
Black History Month
To celebrate "Black History Month," the Museum works with the African-American community to promoted African-American accomplishments in the area. We highlight aspects of our "Paths To Freedom" exhibit and the "20th Century African-American Gallery" to showcase the African-American influence in our area. This year we showcased the newest addition to the "Paths To Freedom" exhibit entitled, "The Other Johnson Family," which details the activities of Andrew Johnson's slaves after emancipation.
Veteran's Appreciation
Each year on Veteran's Day the Museum hosts a reception for our area veterans. We provide space in our "Veteran's Honor Gallery" for the area veterans to gather and talk about their military days and experiences. The Museum tries to have a guest speaker to address the gathering and light refreshments are provided for the veterans.
Mornings At The Museum
Annually, in the month of December, the Museum plays host to all third grade students in the Greeneville City and Greene County school systems. We have "guides" in period dress discussing the aspects of various galleries throughout the Museum. The program starts at 9:00 am and runs through 12:00 noon for an entire week.
Student Tours
The Museum also schedules several tours each fall and spring for students of the area ranging from Kindergarten to College. These tours can be arranged by contacting the Director at 423-636-1558 or director@nathanaelgreenemuseum.com.
